"Build-It-Yourself" Bale Feeder LIVESTOCK Feeding Equipment 26-6-37 This new "build-it-yourself" fenceline feeder holds two bales and is designed to stand outside the cattle pen.
The "Ultimate Hay Saver" is sold as a kit that consists of a steel pipe frame and brackets. It measures 8 ft. wide. The buyer furnishes the boards and plywood sheets that are used to build the floor, which slants down toward the front. There's a 2-ft. high wall at the bottom where cattle feed and a 2-ft. space between the wall and a series of slanted steel pipes that the bottom bale rests against. The hay continuously moves down into the manger as the cattle eat. The unit can handle up to 4,000 lbs. of hay at a time.
"It saves hay because cattle have to keep their head inside the feeder. Any hay they drop stays inside the fence," says Robin Klene.
Sells for $665 not including optional roof brackets. A full line of bale feeders and feed bunks is available.
