Hinds suspended a 5/8-in. dia. cable between two heavy steel pipes, which he anchored solidly in the ground. The cable dips naturally down toward the creek, then goes back uphill and stops. A homemade metal seat is fitted with a pair of wheels that ride the cable.
"We've used it for two years," says Hinds. "You ride down and then pull it back by hand to the starting point. It's built heavy enough for adults."
