"Truck Glove" Scratchproofs Pickup PICKUPS Accessories 25-6-12 If you do a lot of backwoods driving with your pickup or SUV, you'll be interested in this new "truck glove" that's designed to eliminate scratches and reduces dents and dings.
Inventor Billy Halbrook, De Pere, Wis., came up with the idea when he bought a new pickup and didn't want it to get scratched driving through brush while hunting. The truck glove comes in several pieces and is made from durable polyester with a soft backing. The material is laser cut and tailored to each body style. Kits are available to fit any size pickup including 3 and 4-door models.
"It keeps your vehicle looking new," says Halbrook. "It works so well I don't even have to wax my pickup. The kit isn't cheap, but it's cheaper than repainting or doing body work. One person can install or remove it in only about five minutes, and it stores in its own custom bag."
Halbrook says truck gloves limit a pickup's maximum speed to about 35 mph.
The number of pieces in each kit depends on the number of doors on the vehicle. One piece covers the front hood and there are two pieces for the driver and passenger sides. The material comes with adjustable straps and hooks that attach to the vehicle's mirrors, license plates, front and back corners, bumper, and hitch. There are 1-in. wide flaps that fit inside the doors. The flaps have a Velcro backing that attaches to Velcro strips on the inside edges of the doors.
The material can be hose washed and hung for drying.
Comes with a lifetime guarantee. "Even if you cut a hole in the material with a knife you still won't be able to rip it. If you can figure out a way to tear it, we'll fix it," notes Halbrook.
