Hydraulic Jackstand Makes Hookup Easy HITCHES Hitches 20-3-12 If you've ever had problems handling the tongue on a heavy piece of equipment, you'll like this new hydraulic jackstand that makes the job safe, quick, and easy.
It consists of a 3 1/2-in. dia., 18-in. long cylinder that mounts inside an angle iron frame clamped to the tongue. An 8-in. sq. steel plate attaches to the free end of the cylinder, which is powered by tractor hydraulics. Once you've raised the implement and hooked up, you retract the cylinder, disconnect the hoses, and then reconnect the hoses to a pair of female couplers mounted on a bracket above the cylinder.
"I got the idea from hooking up my 20-ft. rotary mower which is extremely heavy," says inventor Raymond Luthi, Jasper, Mo. "It had a hand-operated jackstand that was almost impossible to use. I ended up having to use a front-end loader.
"Hooking up the hoses to the female couplers when the jack is not in use keeps them clean and out of the way. It also keeps the operator from accidentally putting the jackstand down while driving."
Sells for $190. Luthi says he's looking for dealers.
