Rebuilt Golf Carts Loaded With Extra Features ATV'S ATV'S 24-6-33 Greg Budde, who operates a welding and repair shop in St. Rosa, Minn., recently sent FARM SHOW photos of a "stretched" golf cart that can be driven by handicapped people in wheelchairs. He also makes camouflaged "hunter's pecial" golf carts modified for use in the woods. Budde buys used golf carts and then makes his own attachments for them that allow each cart to be customized according to customer needs. The wheelchair-operated cart is a standard Hundai golf cart stretched 3 ft. to a total length of 13 ft. Budde cut the cart down the middle and welded in a 3-ft. long steel platform. He also converted all the controls, including the throttle, gear shift lever, and brakes, so that they can be hand-operated. A ramp that pulls out from under the platform on the passenger side is used to gain access. "It allows anyone in a wheelchair to get around the farm just like anyone on a conventional golf cart or ATV," says Budde. "The model shown is set up for a quadriplegic who always has someone around to help him set up the ramp. The ramp can also be set up to operate electrically and come down by simply pushing a button."
