"Spray Saver" Controls For 3-Point Equipment SPRAYING Accessories 24-3-20 When you get to a turn-row with a planter, cultivator, or hooded sprayer, there's a lot to do all at once.
Whether applying chemicals, fertilizer, or both at the same time, a lot of money is flowing through your sprayer tips. Relying on manual control at that point can cost you hundreds of dollars in wasted spray and crop damage, says Richard Harding, inventor of a new automatic shut-off switch for 3-pt. mounted equipment equipped with sprayers.
"The Spray SaverÖ straps onto the rocker arm of the tractor. It consists of a patented adjustable housing that contains a 10-amp mercury shut-off switch," Richard explains. The 10-amp unit will control up to three direct-to-valve solenoid switches at one time.
"If you have an electrically controlled spray valve on your tractor, you already have a toggle switch circuit near the operator's station. This product simply breaks the ground-side of that circuit. You just strap it on, unplug your existing ground wire and plug ours on. From then on, your spray control is automatic. One Spray Saver per tractor controls the spray on every implement the tractor pulls," Richard continues.
"I developed it for use on our own farm, where we've been using it successfully for 5 years. We have saved a lot of chemicals with it when compared with a manually operated switch. Since we started selling them, customers tell me they've paid for it in the first day."
Cost of the Spray Saver is $45 delivered. It comes complete with mounting straps, wire, instructions and an indicator light to mount in the cab to show the operator it's working. "It's only about the size of your hand, and requires no drilling or welding to mount on the tractor. You just plug the wires from your solenoid control valve into it to hook it up. It only takes about 15 minutes," Richard adds.
