Add-On Fuel Tank For Axial Flow Combines COMBINES Accessories 23-4-20 "I came up with the idea because I was tired of running out of fuel right in the middle of a field," says Richard Foisy, Cut Knife, Sask., who designed an add-on 36-gal. fuel tank for his Case-IH Axial Flow combine that worked so well he decided to put it on the market. The add-on poly tank fits any self-propelled Axial Flow combine ever built. It's designed to slide in next to the original 100-gal. fuel tank, under the outer shell of the combine. Foisy says the tank is so easy to install, and so easy to plumb into the existing fuel tank, that he was amazed no one had ever come up with the idea before. The metal frame of the tank bolts to the underside of the catwalk on top of the combine. The filler cap extends up through the catwalk (you have to cut out a hole for it). The fuel line from the add-on tank simply plumbs into the existing fuel filter, which Foisy says has two extra intake plugs. "I don't know why they're on there but it makes it easy. You just pop out one of the plugs and plug in a fitting that we supply with the tank and you're ready to go. It's very simple. There are no wires to run and no pumps or electric valves to fail." On newer models, a large door opens on the side of the combine exposing the add-on tank. On older models, you slide the tank up under the canopy. Sells for $389 (Canadian).
