Word's First Plastic Bluebird House FARM HOME Miscellaneous 22-6-41 "It's the first injection molded plastic blue-bird house on the market," says Doug Holt, whose company, Wildlife Habitat, manufactures a new-style bluebird house out of recyclable polypropylene.
"The UV-resistant plastic resists cracking and fading and is easier to clean than conventional wooden bluebird houses," says Holt, a Holland, Mich., farmer and engineer.
Inside dimensions are 4 3/4 in. wide by 5 3/8 in. deep and 8 in. tall from the bottom to the entrance hole. There's an internal ladder for fledglings and a side access door. Suit-able for western or eastern bluebirds (specify 1 9/16 or 1 1/2-in. dia. entrance hole, respectively).
Sells for $30.
Optional mounting kit and screen mesh "coon" guard available.
