Binwacker Helps "Unstuck" Feed In Hopper Bottom Bins CROP STORAGE Grain Storage 22-6-19 "I got tired of having all this high-tech equipment around my farm but still having to take a rubber mallet and beat on my bins to keep feed moving," says Chris Birky who invented an "automatic mallet" to keep feed flowing freely at all times.
The Kouts, Ind., farmer's "Binwacker" is a spring-loaded mallet that's chain-driven by a sprocket added to the end of the unloading auger. A large sprocket on the bolt-on unit trips a lever that activates the mallet two times per second whenever feed is augered out.
The Binwacker attaches to the bin with four bolts. The drive chain must be sized according to the angle and size of the hopper boot.
Designed for standard single or double augers with a 30 degree boot. New models will soon be available for other boot designs and degrees.
