Hydraulic Dumping Trailer Made from Pickup Box WAGONS/TRAILERS Miscellaneous 11-5-10 Ernie Parker, Bloomington, Minn., made a handy and versatile hydraulic dumping trailer that lets him quickly and easily dump such loads as rocks and dirt.
"I started with a 1982 Ford Courier ¢-ton box and put it on a frame made of 2 by 3-in. tubing and equipped with 15-in. car tires. I installed a 16-in. stroke hydraulic cylinder that's attached to the trailer frame and truck box. The cylinder's powered by a small hydraulic pump with a built in reservoir. A 12-V. car battery provides the electrical power," Parker notes.
He starts and activates the cylinder to dump the trailer, using a switch on the trailer tongue. The 6-ft. mini box can haul up to 4,000 lbs. and is equipped with taillights, surge brakes and ball hitch.
