Portable A-Frame Shelter Sets Up Fast BUILDINGS Livestock 21-4-31 "It's the quickest structure of its kind to set up and take down," says Floyd Wenner about a new-style portable A-frame shelter he and his partner, Gordon Collins, introduced at the recent South Dakota Inventors Congress in Brookings.
The shelter is constructed of 8 by 10-ft. panels covered with 26-ga. steel siding and edged with 1-in. sq. steel tubing. Each panel is braced with three 1-in. sq. tubing cross members. Panels pin together with three pins so two men can set up or take down an 11 by 24-ft. structure in about 30 minutes with only a few tools, Wenner notes.
One 11 by 24-ft. shelter was used this spring as a sheep shed. Expandable lengths of up to 48 ft. would be ideal for cattle barns, he adds.
Prices start at $825 for an 8 by 10 shelter with a door in one end and a solid panel in the other.
